Chuck Metalitz:
Another Georgist history question, I guess... I had one student who
insisted he wanted the hard-cover P&P, and now he wants to know
who wrote the "Preface to the 75th Anniversary Edition".
It's signed "R.A.F" We do have a Georgist booklet published
by Dun & Bradstreet in 1954, written by one Roy A. Foulke. Is this
who it is? And who is/was he?
Roy Davidson:
I presume R.A.F. is the same Roy A. Foulke who was a vice-president
of Dun & Bradstreet in 1954 when they published his two pamphlets
entitled AN INQUIRY INTO THE PURPOSE OF THE PRODUCTION OF WEALTH and A
STUDY OF THE CONCEPT OF NATIONAL INCOME. Interestingly, Foulke unlike
most academic economists defined the factors of production and wealth
in precise and functional terms similar to Henry George's definitions
for land, labor, capital, wealth, etc. Don't know if Schalkenbach has
ever reprinted the above-mentioned publications.
