Terre Et Liberte ...
  • 1953 - Began publication
  • 1953 - Article, "Terre et Libertye,"
    Henry George News, May:
"A quarterly published by the French Georgists bears a title which is the equivalent of the English Land & Liberty. It was founded in 1925 by Charles Gide, the noted economist; and Sam Meyer, prominent Georgist. Gide passed away; and during World War II, Meyer was a victim of Nazi persecution.

After the war, the loyal "remnant," particularly A. Daude-Bancel, Max Toubeau and Pavlos Giannelias, revived the paper and are now valiantly working to keep the spark of Georgism alive in France.

Terre et Liberte contains many noteworthy articles on the events of the day in France and in the world, as well as valuable essays on the long-range aspects of Georgism, and reprints of important documents by earlier French Georgist leaders.

The editors of Terre et Liberte would welcome support of their efforts by American friends, and would also like to circulate their paper in other countries. Send your dollar or dollars to Andre Fevrier, Rue de l'Association, Mesnil-Esnard, Seine-Inf., France.
  • 1956 - Article (unsigned), "Terre Et Liberte Expanded,"

Thimmadn,
Soranah
(Mulhouse)
  • 1981 - Article, On the Henry George Institute correspondence course,
    Georgist Journal, Autumn:
"If I can claim to have understood this tudy to a certain degree, it is thanks to my background. But I needed a guide to understand. I saw poor women, men and children work very hard in the fields. They suffered. They were degraded by fear as well as by the need to survive. On the other hand, the people who had power over vast tracts of land, being supported by society, exploited them freely. Before these scenes of poverty and innumerable follies, I had only pity and sorry for society. Today, thanks to this study, I now know that poverty does not come from heaven but it is men who are responsible. I am happy about that. I see myself as a new person."
