WE ARE BUILDERS
- We build with imperfect
knowledge and with bias and with poorly conceived blueprints and
with inadequate materials and for all sorts of personal reasons
- Things go wrong
- We react, but often not until
there is some disaster followed by public outrage
- A few brave souls dare to
suggest the problems are structural and can only be solved by
looking at the foundation
- Those in control -- and who have
been making most of the decisions affecting everyone -- lash out at
the critics, the whistle-blowers, the dissenters, the rational
people
- Solutions are cast aside in
favor of mitigations
- Instead of examining the
foundation and developing a systematic plan for rebuilding that
preserves the good and removes the bad, half measures are tried and
tried and tried, until ...
- The burdens of ill-conceived
design bring what was built crashing to the ground.
