  • Ayn Rand's novels and other writings formed the basis of "Objectivist" principles, championing the individual and cooperative society. Although Rand's failure to fully consider the inherent destructive impact on the individual of monopoly control over locations and natural resource lands, she stands out as a unique and important contributor to the socio-political philosophy of cooperative individualism.

  • Edmund Randolph (1753-1813) was the son of John Randolph. He served as aide-de-camp to George Washington in 1775 and as a member of the Virginia Convention of 1776, becoming the first attorney general of the new commonwealth, and then in 1787 governor of the state. In 1789 he joined Washington's cabinet as secretary of state.
