Codman, Boston engineer, placed before the Governor the proposal that municipal taxes on homes, buildings, factories, personal property and polls be abolished or greatly reduced and replaced by a tax on the ground rent of land."

Our main project is Baltimore Thrive for LVT Implementation. We have a dedicated, knowledgeable and effective team that meets nearly every Thursday via zoom. We raised funds to hire a half-time Coordinator; worked in support of a Maryland State Delegate (Boyce) for an enabling legislation bill (did not pass, we will try again next year); had zoom conversations to introduce LVT to two City Council members and one Council Member’s assistant; with numerous community based leaders from several organizations concerned about affordable housing, job creation, stopping blight, urban agriculture; journalist; with people starting a movement for Public Bank for Baltimore to discuss possibilities of supporting each others efforts; wrote several documents posted here: https://theiu.org/baltimorethrive/; the Endorsement Form and other items can be useful to other LVT implementation projects as is a document compiled on LVT in Green Party Platforms which has been posted on the CG USA website here: https://commonground-usa.net/14320-2/;

Neighbors (N4MN) to put on a zoom event at which we presented on our Land Value Tax Districts bill and one of our bill’s co-authors, Rep. Steve Elkins, presented on his Comprehensive Housing Affordability bill, which addresses zoning issues. Over 40 people attended and one of the participants, who works for Metro Transit, informed us he had published a study of our bill last year. During this year’s legislative session, N4MN obtained another co-author for our bill but the bill has still never received a hearing.

This chapter was re-established in 2021 after some years of inactivity. Program and legislative goals have been established to be pursued with member participation

"Oscar Cooley, editor of the weekly Cooperative Builder published by the Cooperative Publishing Assn., Superior, Wisconsin, has asked the Henry George School of Social Science to submit an article on the ideas of Henry George, to show "wherein a development of the cooperative idea leads one to an inquiry into the philosophy of Henry George." It is hoped to have an article ready for publication by January."

Cornick, a member of the staff of the Institute of Public Administration, is the author of a report on "Problems Created by Premature Subidvision of Urban Lands in Selected Metropolitan Districts," just released by the Division of State Planning, of which Wayne D. Heydecker is director."

"Mr. Cornick, a trustee of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation, made the study with the aid of WPA workers and public officials. He traces the history of land speculation in parts of New York State from the first of the existing records and presents a wealth of material relating not only to problems in the field of urban land-use planning but also in the larger field of economic policy."
