- 1929 - Article, supporting the Single Tax
appeared under Henry Ford's name in numerous Single Tax papers
around the world. The Editors of Land and Freedom wrote
to Ford requesting that he acknowledge or disavow authorship of
the article. Ford's assistant responded but only to acknowledge
receipt of the letter. It was then confirmed that the article
was written years before by a Georgist named "Henry S. Ford"
of Camden, New Jersey
- 1938 - Article,
"Henry Ford on Taxes,"
The Freeman, July:
"Land, especially, that is idle," Henry Ford told a newspaper reporter
the other day, "ought to be taxed more heavily than land that is in use. There
should be a tax on idleness, not a tax on industriousness and production."
Does Mr. Ford know?
- 1942 - Interviewed by Liberty Magazine,
5 September. Advocates Henry George's proposal for taxing land
values:
"The time will come when not an inch of the soil, not a single crop,
not even weeds, will be wasted. Then every American family can hve a piece of
land. We ought to tax all idle land the way Henry George said -- tax it heavily,
so that its owners would have to make it productive."

"Mr. John F. Ford,
former manager of the Single Tax Courier, now of the Aeromatic
Power co., Baltimore, has been deeply interested in Fairhope
from its inception. Replying to a recent letter asking if he
could not furnish us on memberhship account one of his win
eingines to pump water for our village, he says: 'I am not yet
in position to give you a definite answer regarding your
proposition for a windmill at Fairhope, but it is probable that
later on I can arrange to furnish you one on terms satisfactory.
Why any genuine single-taxer should fail to heartily approve the
good work of the Fairhope Industrial Associatoin, is past my
comprehension. It has been a source of regret to me that I have
not been in position to render valuable assistance to the most
sensible and worthy colonization scheme that ever came to my
knowledge. I assure you that I will lose no opportunity to do
whatever I can to advance the interests of Fairhope'."

"INDEPENDENCE, Alaska -- When Georgism bears fruit it seems to be particularly lush,
as can be witnessed in the first copy of Frontier, a 32 page magazine devoted
to Alaska and territorial problems. But what lended Frontier particular interest
is the fact that it was conceived and prdouced by Jim Busey, a correspondence course
graduate. Mr. Busey is a vindicator of our correspondence course, for here in the pages
of Frontier are analyses and interpretations of matters pertaining to Alaska done
with an incisive Georgist point-of-view. The Frontier sells for $2.00 a year."
