- 1889 - Merriewold Park Co. purchased 2,000
acres of land from the heirs of W.W. Gilman, 3 August. Louis F.
Post and William Croasdale were principals of the firm
- 1891 - William Croasdale built his home but
died shortly after its completion
- 1898 - Henry George's sons built their
mother a home at Merriewold. She lived there only 2 months
before her death. Henry George, Jr. inherited the house and came
frequently with his wife and children
- 1909 - William de Mille purchased the house
built by Charles Klein; the family moved to California in 1914,
and the house was loans to Elizabeth de Mille Pitman
- 1916 - After the death of Henry George, Jr.,
his wife kept the house. Their daughter Marie sold the house
after the Second World War for financial reasons
- 1920s - A building boom added many new
houses. By this time most of the original families had departed
- 1927 - William and Anna de Mille divorced;
the Merriewold house was given to daughter Agnes. The mother
lived in the house during the 1930s
